York, South Carolina

The York County seat began as Fergus' Cross Roads; laid out as Yorkville in 1786 and incorporated under that name in 1849, it returned to the name York in 1915. Antebellum Yorkville was sometimes called the ‘Charleston of the Upcountry.’
