Shelby, North Carolina

The Cleveland County seat was incorporated in 1843 and named for Revolutionary War commander Col. Isaac Shelby. Uptown Shelby's courthouse square is home to the Earl Scruggs Center, which opened in 2014 in the 1907 county courthouse.
