Cornelius, North Carolina

A Lake Norman town in northern Mecklenburg County, Cornelius was founded in 1893 and incorporated in 1905, its origin traced to a dispute over cotton weighing. It grew from under 2,600 residents in 1990 to 31,412 in 2020.
